Quantitative Researcher

Job Description

You will lead quantitative components of research projects in economics and public policy, from research design to policy-relevant findings, and mentor junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead empirical analyses for policy research, impact evaluations, and commissioned studies
• Clean, merge, and analyze large-scale micro datasets (e.g., SUSENAS, SAKERNAS, IFLS, PODES, economic census, administrative and firm-level data)
• Apply appropriate quantitative methods for causal inference and policy evaluation
• Build and maintain reproducible code and data pipelines
• Translate technical results into clear policy briefs, reports, and presentations for non-technical audiences
• Contribute to research proposals, methodology sections, and engagement with clients and partners
• Supervise, review, and mentor junior researchers and research assistants

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in economics, Public Policy, or a closely related quantitative field
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in quantitative research, preferably in a research institute, think tank, government, or development organization
• Proven hands-on experience processing and analyzing micro-level data
• Solid command of applied econometrics, especially causal inference and impact evaluation methods
• Advanced proficiency in at least one statistical package: Stata, R, or Python; familiarity with others (e.g., GIS) is a plus
• Track record of research outputs (reports, working papers, policy briefs, or peer-reviewed publications)
• Strong analytical writing and presentation skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia
