Head Engineer

About the role

Aloita Resort is looking for an experienced and hands-on Head Engineer to lead our engineering and maintenance operations and ensure the resort's facilities and technical systems operate safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily engineering, maintenance, and technical operations throughout the resort.

• Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs.

• Ensure proper operation of electrical systems, generators, AC, plumbing, pumps, water systems, and other equipment.

• Conduct regular inspections and identify, prioritize, and follow up on maintenance issues.

• Lead, supervise, and develop the engineering team.

• Maintain maintenance records, equipment logs, checklists, and preventive maintenance schedules.

• Manage engineering tools, spare parts, and technical inventory.

• Coordinate with external contractors and technicians when required.

• Monitor energy, water, and utility consumption and identify improvement opportunities.

• Respond to technical emergencies, breakdowns, and operational issues.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3–5 years of engineering or maintenance experience, preferably in hospitality.

• Previous experience as Chief Engineer, Engineering Supervisor, or Head Engineer is preferred.

• Strong technical knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, AC, generator, pump, and water systems.

• Experience leading and supervising a technical team.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Good organizational and reporting skills.

• Safety-conscious with attention to detail.

• Good command of English is an advantage.

• Hands-on, practical, flexible, and resourceful.

• Comfortable working independently in a remote island environment.
