About the role
The Graduate Electrical Design Engineer will support the development and delivery of electrical, instrumentation and control engineering designs for Resindo's mining, mineral processing, metals, coal, bulk materials handling, process plant and associated industrial infrastructure projects. This is a predominantly office-based design engineering position for graduate engineers seeking to develop a professional career in Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Design Engineering. At Resindo, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering are developed as integrated capabilities. The Graduate Engineer will progressively gain practical experience in electrical power systems, electrical equipment, instrumentation, control systems and their integration with process plant equipment. Working under the guidance of experienced Electrical Engineers and Discipline Leaders, the Graduate Engineer will develop skills in engineering calculations and system studies, equipment and instrument selection, electrical and instrumentation design, P&ID development, and preparation of drawings, datasheets, specifications, reports and other engineering documentation.
Key responsibilities
Develop electrical engineering designs from concept through detailed design under the guidance of Senior Engineers and Discipline Leaders
Perform electrical calculations, system analysis, equipment selection and engineering documentation
Assist with electrical load lists, power distribution systems and HV/MV/LV systems
Develop and update S ingle Line Diagrams (SLDs) and electrical schematics
Perform cable sizing, cable schedules and cable routing design
Develop proficiency in ETAP and other engineering software used by Resindo
Develop practical instrumentation and control engineering capability including selection, sizing and specification of instrumentation
Prepare Instrument Lists, Instrument Datasheets, I/O Lists, Instrument Loop Drawings and Instrument Hook-up Drawings
Develop and update P&IDs under appropriate guidance and work closely with Process, Mechanical, Civil & Structural, Project Management, Drafting and other engineering personnel
Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and coordination meetings and assist with resolving engineering interfaces and technical queries
About you
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognised university
Fresh graduate to approximately 2 years of relevant professional experience
Previous experience should be predominantly in electrical and/or instrumentation engineering design
Strong academic foundation in electrical engineering fundamentals, including power systems, electrical machines, protection, control systems and engineering calculations
Academic exposure to instrumentation, process control, PLC/control systems or industrial automation is highly desirable
Exposure to ETAP, CAD or equivalent electrical engineering/design software through university or previous employment is advantageous
Good analytical and numerical ability with strong attention to detail
Good Microsoft Office skills and good written and spoken English
Ability to work effectively within an Electrical discipline team and larger multidisciplinary engineering teams
Strong willingness to learn, accept technical guidance and develop a professional career in electrical, instrumentation and control design engineering
