About the role

The Graduate Civil Structural Design Engineer is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of civil and structural engineering designs for Resindo's mining, mineral processing, metals, coal, bulk materials handling, industrial facilities and associated infrastructure projects. This is predominantly an office-based engineering design position intended for graduate engineers who wish to develop their professional career specifically in civil and structural design engineering. Working under the guidance and mentorship of experienced Civil & Structural Engineers and Discipline Leaders, the Graduate Engineer will progressively develop the capability to prepare engineering calculations, analyses, models, reports, specifications and detailed designs using modern engineering software and design tools.

Key responsibilities

• Work under the guidance of Senior Engineers and Discipline Leaders to develop civil and structural engineering designs from concept through to detailed design

• Develop practical engineering skills in the preparation of calculations, analyses, models and design documentation

• Assist with civil engineering design including site development, plant layouts, bulk earthworks, roads, pavements, stormwater drainage, water management systems, retaining structures, underground services and foundations

• Assist with structural engineering design including crusher structures, conveyor galleries, transfer towers, pipe racks, process plant buildings, structural steelwork, reinforced concrete structures, equipment support structures and foundations

• Learn and progressively become proficient in engineering software and analytical tools used by Resindo, including STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, AutoCAD and other current engineering design tools

• Develop structural analysis models under the supervision of experienced engineers and undertake engineering calculations for static loading, dynamic loading, wind and seismic loading, structural stability, structural members, foundations and connections

• Work with geotechnical engineers to understand the relationship between ground conditions and civil/structural design

• Prepare engineering documentation including design criteria, design basis memoranda, engineering calculations, reports, specifications, scope of work documents, material take-offs and technical queries

• Participate in engineering activities across project stages including scoping studies, feasibility studies, FEED and detailed design

• Work closely with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Drafting and Project Engineering personnel as part of multidisciplinary project teams

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university

• Fresh graduate to maximum approximately 2 years' relevant professional experience

• Candidates with previous employment experience must have gained that experience predominantly in civil and/or structural engineering design

• Strong academic foundation in structural analysis, structural mechanics, reinforced concrete, structural steel, soil mechanics/geotechnical engineering and general civil engineering

• Exposure to structural analysis or engineering design software through university or previous design employment is advantageous

• Strong interest in developing competency in modern engineering analysis and design software

• Interest in mining, mineral processing, metals, coal, process plants, materials handling systems and heavy industrial engineering

• Good analytical and numerical ability with strong attention to detail

• Good Microsoft Office capability and good written and spoken English

• Ability to work effectively within both a Civil & Structural discipline team and larger multidisciplinary engineering teams
