Application Engineer _ Pumps & Seals

About the role

PT. Berjaya Teknik Abadi is seeking an Application Engineer – Pumps & Seals to join our Engineering team. This is a full-time position based in West Jakarta, Jakarta. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support for the selection, application, and implementation of pumping and sealing solutions for our clients. You will be instrumental in ensuring that our products meet customer requirements and perform optimally across diverse industrial applications. This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging technical projects whilst contributing to the growth and reputation of PT. Berjaya Teknik Abadi in the mechanical engineering sector.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies to determine appropriate pump and seal solutions for client applications

• Provide expert recommendations on pump selection, sizing, and specifications based on operational requirements and performance criteria

• Develop technical documentation, including application drawings, performance curves, and installation guidelines

• Collaborate with sales teams to support quotations and proposals by providing detailed technical specifications and cost estimates

• Conduct site surveys and audits to evaluate existing systems and identify opportunities for optimisation or replacement

• Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of pump and seal systems

• Train customers and internal staff on proper operation, maintenance, and safety protocols for pumping equipment

• Investigate and resolve technical issues, including performance problems and failures, and implement corrective actions

• Maintain technical databases and documentation regarding pump performance, seal materials, and system configurations

• Stay informed of industry advancements and continuously update technical knowledge of pumping and sealing technology

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline

• Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in pump and seal application engineering or a related field

• Strong knowledge of pump types, classifications, and operating principles (centrifugal, positive displacement, etc.)

• Comprehensive understanding of sealing technologies and mechanical seal applications

• Proficiency in hydraulic and fluid mechanics principles

• Experience with hydraulic calculations and system design analysis

• Competency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and technical analysis tools

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to apply engineering principles to practical applications

• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

• Fluency in English and Indonesian language is essential

• Preferably experience with international pump or seal manufacturers' product lines

• Preferably familiarity with industrial standards and regulations relevant to pumping systems
