Soil Nutrient and Moisture Management Spesialist

About the role

PT Bio Inti Agrindo is seeking a Soil Nutrient and Moisture Management Specialist to join our conservation and environmental management team. This is a full-time position based in South Papua, where you will play a vital role in developing and implementing sustainable soil management practices that support both agricultural productivity and environmental conservation objectives. This role is strategically important to our organisation's commitment to balancing agricultural development with biodiversity protection and ecosystem health in this biodiverse region.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and monitor soil nutrient levels and moisture content across conservation areas and agricultural sites using modern diagnostic tools and techniques

• Develop customised soil management plans that optimise nutrient availability and water retention whilst minimising environmental impact

• Conduct soil testing, analysis and interpretation to identify deficiencies, imbalances and contamination issues

• Design and implement irrigation and drainage systems that promote sustainable water use and soil health

• Provide technical guidance to field teams on best practices for soil conservation, composting and organic matter management

• Monitor the effectiveness of soil management interventions and adjust strategies based on environmental conditions and conservation outcomes

• Collaborate with conservation partners, agricultural stakeholders and local communities to promote sustainable land management practices

• Prepare technical reports, recommendations and training materials on soil health and moisture management

• Support research initiatives related to soil science and sustainable farming practices in tropical ecosystems

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in soil science, agronomy, environmental science, agriculture or a closely related discipline

• Proven experience in soil analysis, nutrient management and moisture assessment in tropical or subtropical environments

• Strong knowledge of soil classification systems, soil-water relationships and nutrient cycling processes

• Practical experience with soil testing equipment, moisture monitoring instruments and diagnostic tools

• Competency in identifying and addressing soil degradation, erosion and contamination issues

• Experience in designing and managing irrigation or water conservation systems

• Excellent understanding of organic and sustainable farming practices relevant to conservation contexts

• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical soil science concepts to non-specialist audiences

• Ability to work effectively in field conditions, particularly in remote or challenging environments

• Fluency in Indonesian and English; proficiency in local languages is advantageous

• Previous experience working in conservation, national parks or protected areas is highly desirable

• Demonstrated commitment to environmental sustainability and biodiversity protection
