About the role

RS Sedayu General Hospital is seeking a dedicated and qualified Refractionist to join our Optical department. This is a full-time position based in Bantul, Yogyakarta, where you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality vision care services to our patients. As a Refractionist, you will be at the forefront of our optical services, conducting comprehensive eye examinations and determining the precise optical prescriptions needed to enhance patients' visual health and quality of life.

Key responsibilities

• Performing comprehensive refractive examinations using advanced diagnostic equipment and techniques

• Conducting visual acuity tests and assessing patients' vision requirements with precision and care

• Determining accurate optical prescriptions through systematic refraction procedures

• Fitting and adjusting spectacles and contact lenses to ensure optimal patient comfort and visual correction

• Maintaining detailed and accurate patient records in accordance with hospital protocols and regulations

• Providing patients with expert advice on lens options, frame selection, and proper eyewear care and maintenance

• Collaborating with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to support comprehensive eye care delivery

• Ensuring all optical equipment is properly maintained, calibrated and functioning according to specifications

• Adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining a clean, safe optical workspace

• Contributing to patient education initiatives regarding eye health and the importance of regular vision screening

What we're looking for

• Formal qualification or certification as a Refractionist, as required by Indonesian regulatory bodies

• Proven professional experience working in an optical or eye care setting, preferably within a hospital environment

• Proficiency in operating refraction equipment, autorefractors, and other optical diagnostic instruments

• Strong knowledge of refractive errors, optical principles and lens prescriptions

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with diverse patient populations

• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all examinations and measurements

• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team

• Knowledge of current optical standards, best practices and healthcare regulations in Indonesia

• Physical capability to perform repetitive tasks and maintain focus during extended patient consultations

• Professional commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with developments in optical practice
