Purchasing Assistant Manager

We are assisting one of our clients, who is looking for a Purchasing Assistant Manager (Batam)

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Purchasing Department to ensure efficient and effective procurement operations.

• Develop and implement strategic procurement plans aligned with business objectives.

• Manage supplier sourcing, evaluation, selection, and negotiations to achieve optimal quality, pricing, and delivery terms.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and business partners.

• Coordinate with Production, Warehouse, and other relevant departments to ensure timely material availability and appropriate inventory levels.

• Manage the purchasing budget, control procurement costs, and implement cost-saving initiatives.

• Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

• Analyse procurement performance, prepare management reports, and identify process improvement opportunities.

• Lead, coach, and develop the purchasing team to achieve departmental targets and improve performance.

• Monitor supplier performance, resolve procurement issues, and implement alternative supplier strategies to mitigate supply risks and maintain business continuity.
  

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management.

• Language: Business-level English proficiency. Mandarin proficiency is preferred.

• Experience: 7–10 years of purchasing or procurement experience in manufacturing, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.

• Experience using enterprise resource planning, material requirements planning, and SAP systems.

• Experience in inventory management, data analysis, and Microsoft Office applications.

• Experience managing supplier key performance indicators, supply risks, and alternative suppliers.
