About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Commercial & Operations to join Umawar Investment Group on a full-time basis, based in South Jakarta. This is a pivotal leadership position that will drive the commercial performance and operational efficiency of our hospitality and tourism operations. Reporting to senior management, you will be responsible for overseeing all commercial activities and operational functions, ensuring seamless execution across all properties and services. This role offers the opportunity to shape strategy, drive profitability and establish operational best practices that will define our competitive position in the market.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive commercial strategies that drive revenue growth, market share expansion and profitability across all hospitality and tourism operations

• Oversee all operational functions including front-of-house and back-of-house management, ensuring consistent delivery of service excellence and brand standards

• Lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with departmental heads to optimise operational efficiency, reduce costs and improve performance metrics

• Manage budgeting, forecasting and financial planning to achieve commercial targets and ensure responsible resource allocation

• Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with suppliers, vendors and distribution channels to enhance commercial opportunities

• Monitor market trends, competitor activities and customer insights to inform strategic decision-making and identify growth opportunities

• Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) across commercial and operational functions, providing regular reporting and analysis to senior leadership

• Lead recruitment, training and development of operational teams to build a high-performing workforce aligned with company values

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, health and safety standards, and company policies across all operations

• Drive innovation in service delivery, guest experience and operational processes to maintain competitive advantage

What we're looking for

• Minimum 10 years of progressive management experience in hospitality, tourism or related service industries, with at least 5 years in a senior commercial or operations leadership role

• Proven track record of developing and executing successful commercial strategies that have delivered measurable revenue growth and profitability improvements

• Strong expertise in operational management, including P&L responsibility, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis

• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate diverse teams across multiple departments and locations

• Excellent strategic thinking skills combined with strong attention to detail and ability to execute tactical initiatives

• Comprehensive knowledge of hospitality industry standards, customer service best practices and revenue management principles

• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships

• Proficiency in data analysis and the use of technology platforms to drive operational efficiency and commercial insights

• Excellent communication skills in English; fluency in Indonesian is highly desirable

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Tourism or related discipline; advanced qualifications or certifications in hospitality management are advantageous

• Experience working in the Jakarta or broader Southeast Asian hospitality market is preferred
