About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Production Manager (Mandarin Speaker) to join our production team at our facility in Sidoarjo, East Java. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in supporting the production operations and contributing to the success of our manufacturing processes. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be instrumental in ensuring that our production targets are met whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Your Mandarin language capabilities will be essential in facilitating communication with our Chinese partners and stakeholders, making this a key differentiator for the role.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating daily production activities to ensure timely delivery of products

• Monitor production processes and machinery to ensure optimal performance and adherence to quality standards

• Support the identification and implementation of process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste

• Conduct regular inspections of production lines and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards

• Maintain detailed records of production metrics, including output, quality data, and downtime incidents

• Coordinate with quality assurance teams to ensure products meet specified standards and customer requirements

• Assist in training and supervising production staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety

• Communicate effectively with Chinese management and technical teams, providing translations and facilitating understanding of production requirements and updates

• Support troubleshooting of production issues and work collaboratively to implement solutions

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across the production facility

What we're looking for

• Fluent in Mandarin Chinese (both written and verbal) to communicate effectively with Chinese stakeholders and management

• Proven experience in production management or similar manufacturing environment, preferably in the paper or packaging industry

• Strong understanding of production processes, including machinery operation and maintenance requirements

• Knowledge of quality control systems and the ability to interpret quality metrics and standards

• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and supervise production teams

• Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency

• Proficiency in basic computer systems and production management software

• Diploma or degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field is preferred

• Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to manufacturing environments

• Flexibility to work shift patterns as required by production schedule
