Temporary - Media Arts Technician

CORE PURPOSE:

The Media Arts Technician provides hands-on technical support to the Film & Media Arts department, ensuring that media equipment, studios and technical resources are safe, functional and ready to support teaching, learning, productions, assessments and school events.

The role is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance and organisation of Media Arts equipment and resources, including cameras, lighting, sound and editing equipment. The role also provides practical technical support, guidance and basic training to students and staff in the safe and effective use of media equipment and software.

Working closely with Media Arts teachers and relevant Arts staff, the Media Arts Technician helps ensure that technical requirements are effectively supported and that equipment, studios and digital resources are maintained to an appropriate professional and educational standard.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Essential:

• Minimum Associate’s Degree or Senior High School qualification or equivalent.

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in media, film, audiovisual production or a related technical environment.

• Practical experience with cameras, lighting, sound and video editing equipment.

• Good technical troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

• Good organisational and equipment management skills.

• Good written and verbal communication in English and strong interpersonal skills in order to effectively liaise with internal and external parties.

• Good understanding of health and safety when working with technical equipment.

• Good computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Apple MacOs including Mac Computers and iPad).  

• Able to work independently and as a part of a team.

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

• Relevant technical or vocational qualification in Media, Film, Audiovisual Production, Digital Media or a related field.

• Experience working in a school or educational environment.

• Experience in professional media production and editing software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVince Resolve, Final Cut Pro or equivalent. 

• Experience managing media files, digital storage and equipment inventory.

• Experience with equipment maintenance, minor repairs or technical support.
