R&D Supervisor (Perfume & Fragrance)

About the role

This is a senior R&D position in the fragrance, cosmetics, or personal care industry. You will lead the development and refinement of fragrance formulations while supervising R&D teams and ensuring all products meet regulatory standards and quality requirements before mass production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, test, and refine fragrance formulations (fragrance notes, longevity, sillage, and stability)

• Lead R&D analyst and technician teams, schedule research activities, and oversee laboratory workflows

• Oversee stability tests, compatibility tests with packaging, and sensory evaluation to ensure quality before mass production

• Collaborate with suppliers to source fragrance oils, solvents, and supporting materials of quality

• Ensure formulations are safe and comply with cosmetic and fragrance industry regulatory standards (BPOM, Halal certification, IFRA standards)

• Analyse global and local fragrance trends to create new aroma innovations or product concepts

• Collaborate with Marketing, Purchasing, and Production teams to scale formulations from laboratory to mass production

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or related science field

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in R&D for the fragrance, cosmetics, or personal care industry (supervisor/senior level experience preferred)

• Deep understanding of Olfactory Pyramid (Top, Middle, Base Notes), solvent formulation (alcohol/non-alcohol), and fixative agents

• Mastery of BPOM regulations and IFRA (International Fragrance Association) safety standards

• Familiarity with stability and packaging compatibility testing

• Strong leadership and project management capabilities

• High attention to detail and good sensory/organoleptic sensitivity

• Problem-solving ability and fluent communication skills
