Oil and Gas field Asset Manager

Senior Level (15+ Years Experience)

Location: Various locations in Indonesia

Nationality: Indonesian National

Experience: 15 Years Minimum

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptionally experienced and entrepreneurial Oilfield Asset Manager to lead the development of oil and gas fields in frontier and remote areas of Indonesia with minimal existing infrastructure. This is a highly challenging and rewarding senior leadership role that goes beyond conventional asset management, requiring a rare combination of technical depth, pioneering development mindset, commercial creativity, and operational resilience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for taking early-stage or underdeveloped oil and gas assets from appraisal through to first oil/gas production, establishing field infrastructure from near-scratch, building operational teams, and navigating complex regulatory and logistical environments, while maximizing asset value under Indonesia's PSC framework with SKK Migas.

This role demands someone who has built something from the ground up in Indonesia's challenging frontier environments, not just managed existing producing assets.

Key challenges this role will often navigate:

  • Near-zero existing infrastructure: roads, power, water, accommodations, communications, and processing facilities must be planned and built in remote locations.

  • Community affairs: managing local community relations

  • Supply chain complexity: mobilizing equipment, materials, and personnel to remote areas

  • Harsh environmental conditions: seasonal flooding, heat, humidity, tropical terrain, and environmental sensitivities

Key Responsibilities

1. Greenfield & Early-Stage Field Development Leadership

  • Lead the full development lifecycle of oil and gas fields

  • Execute comprehensive Plans of Development (POD) and Integrated Development Strategies for low-infrastructure environments

  • Define the development concept and philosophy, selecting appropriate technologies, facilities configurations, and phased development approaches suited to frontier conditions

  • Lead concept screening and selection for production facilities, transportation (pipeline vs. trucking vs. barge), and export infrastructure

  • Define minimum viable infrastructure strategies to achieve early cash flow while managing CAPEX risk

2. Infrastructure Planning & Development

  • Lead planning and development of all field infrastructure from ground zero including:

    • Access roads and logistics corridors

    • Power generation and distribution systems

    • Central Processing Facilities (CPF) and Early Production Facilities (EPF)

    • Oil storage and export terminals (pipeline, trucking, or offshore loading)

    • Water injection and produced water management systems

    • Flowlines, gathering systems, and trunk pipelines

    • Camp facilities, warehouses, and logistics bases

  • Communications infrastructure

  • Manage construction supervision and commissioning of new facilities

3. Production Engineering & Early Production Strategy

  • Establish production optimization frameworks for the ramp-up phase

  • Oversee well completion design suited to frontier field conditions

  • Develop artificial lift strategies appropriate for reservoir characteristics and infrastructure constraints

  • Build production forecasting models and decline curve analyses for investor reporting

4. HSE Leadership in Frontier Environments

  • Establish HSE management systems for new field operations

  • Develop site-specific HSE plans addressing environmental risks including:

    • Wildlife and tropical disease hazards

    • Flash flood and extreme weather risks

    • Driving and river transport safety

    • Construction safety in remote areas

    • H2S, fire, and explosion hazards

  • Develop emergency response plans (ERP) and evacuation procedures for remote/isolated locations

  • Establish medevac (medical evacuation) protocols and first aid infrastructure

  • Lead HAZOP, HAZID, and risk assessment processes for new facilities

  • Build HSE culture in a newly formed workforce from day one

Requirement

Minimum (Wajib)

Bachelor's Degree (S1) in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Geoscience

Mandatory Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years in Indonesian upstream oil and gas

  • Minimum 5 years leading greenfield, early-stage, or low-infrastructure field development in Indonesia

  • Direct experience managing field development in remote or frontier areas of Indonesia (Sumatra interior, Kalimantan, Papua, Sulawesi, or equivalent)

  • Proven experience with SKK Migas FDP approval and WP&B processes

  • Demonstrated track record of bringing a field from development concept to first production

  • Experience building and leading multidisciplinary teams in challenging environments
