Manufacturing Engineering - Body Shop Engineer

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage body shop engineering projects, including facility layouts, tooling installation, debugging, validation, and production handover.

2. Design and develop welding jigs, fixtures, and tooling using engineering design software, ensuring compliance with safety and technical requirements.

3. Prepare project cost estimates and monitor tooling budgets, equipment schedules, and project milestones.

4. Coordinate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to resolve welding, tooling, and equipment issues and support new-model readiness.

5. Improve body shop manufacturing methods, ergonomics, line balancing, costs, and cycle times while maintaining engineering change documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in project coordination and tooling design involving welding processes, jigs, and fixtures.

• Proficiency in engineering design software such as SolidWorks, CAD, or UG (Siemens NX).

• Knowledge of sheet metal and alumunium welding processes, material properties, and weld quality.

• Understanding of PFMEA, lean design, ergonomics, line balancing, and manufacturing safety requirements.

• Knowledge of basic PLC programming, automotive manufacturing processes, and technical cost calculation.

• Strong leadership, coordination, and negotiation skills.

• Advanced PLC and robot programming skills are an advantage.
