About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis to join the kitchen team at 9-11 cafe, located in Denpasar Barat, Bali. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills in a dynamic hospitality environment. As a Commis, you will play a vital role in supporting our kitchen operations, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring our guests receive exceptional dining experiences. This position is ideal for individuals looking to build a foundation in professional kitchens whilst maintaining flexibility in their schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning

• Supporting senior kitchen staff with food preparation tasks under supervision

• Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of workstations and kitchen equipment

• Following food safety and hygiene protocols consistently

• Assisting with the plating and presentation of dishes according to restaurant standards

• Supporting the efficient flow of service during busy periods

• Learning kitchen procedures, recipes and cooking techniques from experienced staff members

• Handling basic cooking tasks as directed, such as boiling, blanching and simple grilling

• Ensuring all waste is disposed of appropriately and bins are managed throughout service

• Supporting inventory management by informing senior staff of low stock levels

What we're looking for

• A genuine passion for hospitality and working within a kitchen environment

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety and hygiene standards

• Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift items safely

• The ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced kitchen

• Willingness to learn and take on direction from senior kitchen staff

• Excellent time management and organisational skills

• Flexibility and reliability, with a commitment to punctuality

• Basic communication skills and a positive attitude towards work

• Previous kitchen or hospitality experience is preferred but not essential for the right candidate

• Ability to work part-time hours as required by the restaurant
