About the role

Lindayes Patisserie & Coffee is seeking a skilled and passionate Barista to join our team on a contract basis. Based in East Jakarta, this role is central to delivering an exceptional coffee experience to our valued customers. As a Barista, you will be the face of our café, crafting high-quality beverages and creating memorable experiences that keep customers coming back. This position plays a vital role in maintaining our reputation for excellence in specialty coffee and outstanding customer service.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing and serving a variety of coffee beverages, espresso drinks and other hot and cold beverages to consistently high standards

• Operating and maintaining espresso machines, grinders and other specialised coffee equipment

• Taking customer orders accurately and efficiently whilst providing knowledgeable recommendations

• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the café, including equipment sanitation and workspace organisation

• Managing point-of-sale systems and processing transactions accurately

• Collaborating with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak and quiet periods

• Developing and maintaining product knowledge about coffee origins, brewing techniques and flavour profiles

• Handling customer inquiries and complaints professionally and courteously

• Adhering to food safety and health regulations at all times

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Barista in a busy café or coffee shop environment

• Strong knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, espresso extraction and beverage presentation

• Proficiency in operating and maintaining espresso machines and related café equipment

• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and engaging demeanour

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining quality standards

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and food hygiene

• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team

• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings and weekends

• A passion for coffee and genuine enthusiasm for creating positive customer experiences

• Basic numeracy skills for handling cash and processing transactions

• Relevant barista certification or training would be advantageous
