Backend Engineer (Java/Golang) - Financial Service

Job Description

The Back End Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining application logic, server-side services, and databases that support the functionality of the company's systems.

The role is responsible for ensuring that applications and services meet the required standards for performance, security, reliability, and scalability, while effectively supporting business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain back-end services and applications.

• Design and implement RESTful APIs and/or gRPC-based services.

• Develop and maintain applications using both relational and non-relational databases.

• Translate business and technical requirements into efficient, scalable, and maintainable back-end solutions.

• Collaborate closely with Front End Engineers, Business Analysts, QA Engineers, DevOps Engineers, and other stakeholders.

• Implement appropriate API security, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.

• Ensure data security and maintain high standards of application security.

• Write clean, structured, efficient, and maintainable code in accordance with development best practices.

• Develop solutions with a strong focus on functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Conduct troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization when required.

• Support testing, UAT, deployment, and post-deployment activities.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, architecture, and engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Informatics Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a Back End Engineer / Developer.

• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and REST APIs.

• Good understanding of databases, authentication, and authorization concepts.

• Ability to work effectively within a team and follow established software development standards and practices.

• Previous experience working in a financial services company is a strong advantage.

• Open to learning and adopting new technologies, frameworks, and development practices.

Technical Skills

• Programming Languages: Java and/or Golang.

• Frameworks / Libraries: Spring Boot, including Spring Cloud Gateway, Eureka, Feign, JPA, and Config Server; Gorilla/Mux; Proto-gen-go.

• Databases: PostgreSQL and MongoDB.

• Familiarity with Kafka, Valkey (Redis), and MinIO.

• Experience with RESTful APIs and/or gRPC.

• Good understanding of Clean Code and Clean Architecture principles.

• Experience implementing unit testing, particularly with JUnit and Mockito.

• Understanding of Authentication & Authorization, including JWT, OAuth, and HMAC.

• Proficiency with Git / version control systems.

• Basic knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD is an advantage.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and container platforms is an advantage.
