Social Media Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a creative and trend-savvy Social Media Specialist who can transform news and current issues into engaging and relevant social media content. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing content across multiple social media platforms—from researching ideas and producing content to writing captions, publishing posts, and evaluating performance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, create, and publish social media content consistently.

• Research relevant news, current issues, trends, and online conversations.

• Produce and edit short-form videos and simple visual content.

• Write compelling headlines, captions, and hooks that reflect each account's character.

• Monitor emerging trends and quickly identify content opportunities.

• Maintain a consistent visual style, tone of voice, and identity across social media accounts.

• Monitor and evaluate content performance to support ongoing strategy development.

About you

• Previous experience as a Social Media Specialist, Content Creator, Social Media Administrator, or in a similar role.

• Good understanding of content trends and audience behavior across Instagram, TikTok, Threads, and other social media platforms.

• Strong research skills and the ability to turn information into engaging content.

• Proficiency in video editing using CapCut or similar applications.

• Strong copywriting skills, particularly in developing headlines, hooks, and captions.

• Basic understanding of journalistic principles and information verification.

• Strong awareness of current affairs, social issues, and social media trends.

• Creative, detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

• Willingness to submit a portfolio or examples of previously created content.
