MYP/DP Individuals and Society Teacher

About the role

As the IB MYP & DP Individuals & Societies Teacher, you are responsible for delivering an inquiry-based, concept-driven, and student-centered curriculum that develops students' understanding of history, geography, economics, political systems, cultures, and contemporary global issues. You will cultivate critical thinking, research, analysis, and communication skills while helping students understand the interconnected nature of people, places, systems, and societies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evaluate MYP Individuals & Societies and DP units aligned with IB curriculum frameworks and school-wide learning goals.

• Inspire curiosity about history, geography, economics, politics, cultures, sustainability, and global citizenship through inquiry-based learning.

• Develop students' historical thinking, geographic reasoning, research, source evaluation, and evidence-based argumentation.

• Prepare DP students for success in internal and external assessments through authentic, concept-driven instruction and high-quality feedback.

• Model exemplary IB teaching practices and actively mentor colleagues in inquiry, assessment, conceptual planning, and Approaches to Teaching and Learning.

• Design engaging interdisciplinary learning experiences that connect Individuals & Societies with science, language, mathematics, arts, and design.

• Utilize formative and summative assessment strategies aligned with IB assessment criteria to monitor student growth and improve learning.

• Foster respectful dialogue around diverse perspectives, encouraging students to become informed, ethical, and internationally minded citizens.

• Contribute to curriculum development, vertical alignment, and whole-school initiatives that strengthen the IB programme.

• Participate actively in curriculum mapping, moderation, accreditation activities, professional learning communities (PLCs), and ongoing school improvement initiatives.

About you

• Minimum 5 years of successful IB MYP and/or DP teaching experience, including demonstrated success preparing students for DP terminal assessments.

• Proven ability to develop high-quality inquiry-based curriculum and strengthen IB implementation in schools developing their programmes.

• Demonstrated success mentoring colleagues and contributing to professional learning and instructional improvement.

• Strong experience working with culturally diverse student populations in international or bilingual schools.

• Bachelor's Degree in History, Geography, Political Science, International Relations, Economics, Social Sciences, Education, or a related field (Master's Degree preferred).

• Teaching certification or equivalent credentials (PGCE, B.Ed., SPd., M.Pd., or equivalent).

• Completion of IB-recognized professional training in MYP and/or DP Individuals & Societies.

• Demonstrated experience designing inquiry-based units and assessments aligned to IB curriculum standards.

• Fluency in English for English-medium instruction; proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia is considered an advantage.
