About the role

The IB PYP Teacher Librarian acts as an educator and learning resource manager who supports the philosophy and framework of IB PYP. This role aims to develop literacy skills, information literacy, and inquiry-based learning through collaboration with classroom teachers and the provision of a library environment that supports conceptual learning and student agency.

Key responsibilities

• Teach literacy skills, information literacy, and research skills aligned with the IB PYP inquiry approach, integrating critical thinking, Approaches to Learning (ATL), and various print and digital information sources

• Support the implementation of Units of Inquiry through active involvement in collaborative planning, teaching, and reflection with classroom teachers

• Encourage reading engagement and reading enjoyment as a foundation for lifelong learning

• Collaborate with the PYP Coordinator, classroom teachers, and school team in designing learning experiences aligned with the Learner Profile, Approaches to Learning (ATL), and key concepts, related concepts, and global contexts of PYP

• Provide and curate learning resources to enrich transdisciplinary learning across subjects

• Actively participate in team meetings, collaborative planning, learning reflection, and program evaluation in accordance with IB program standards and practice

• Manage the library collection to ensure it is relevant, current, inclusive, diverse, and aligned with IB PYP curriculum needs

• Develop effective library borrowing and management systems that support student independence

• Provide a safe, inclusive, flexible, student-centered library environment that supports exploration, collaboration, and inquiry

• Teach information ethics, copyright, and academic integrity in accordance with IB values

About you

• Educational background in Education, Bachelor of Education (S.Pd) or Master of Education

• Understanding of IB PYP philosophy and framework (IB certification is an added value)

• Strong communication, collaboration, and professional reflection skills

• Ability to work with primary school-aged students from diverse backgrounds

• Strong interest in literacy, inquiry, and conceptual learning and student agency

• Experience working in IB-PYP schools and understanding of the role of the librarian in the PYP
