Chemical / Aerosol Process Expert

About the role

Responsible for designing, developing, simulating, and evaluating aerosol and water droplet processes to support Cloud Generator development and Weather Modification processes. Work focuses on aerosol/CCN generation, water vapor generation, atomization/water droplet generation, aerosol–water vapor mixing, dispersion, and simulation of aerosol and water droplet interactions through cloud formation and precipitation/rain formation.

Key responsibilities

• Design aerosol/CCN and water droplet process concepts based on cloud generation system requirements

• Determine appropriate aerosol generation, atomization, injection, mixing, and dispersion methods for the system

• Determine particle/droplet size characteristics, concentration, flow rate, and operating parameters

• Analyze aerosol–air–water vapor mixing processes and interactions between aerosol particles with water vapor and water droplets

• Conduct engineering calculations and simulations to evaluate aerosol dispersion, droplet formation, evaporation, condensation, and cloud formation

• Develop simulations/models to evaluate water droplet growth, inter-droplet interactions, and precipitation/rain formation

• Support design of mixing chambers, ducting, nozzles/atomizers, and injection systems related to aerosol and water droplet processes

• Conduct prototype testing and experimental testing, and compare simulation results with actual measurement results

• Perform data analysis and process optimization based on simulation and testing results

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor's degree, preferably Master's degree, in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Atmospheric Science, Aerosol Science, Fluid Dynamics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field

• Experience in aerosol, particle/droplet processes, fluid dynamics, atmospheric/environmental processes, or related fields

• Understanding of aerosol and particle dynamics, cloud microphysics, droplet behavior, and precipitation processes

• Experience using engineering calculation, numerical modelling, or simulation tools for process analysis

• Experience in experimental testing, data analysis, and validation is an added value

• Ability to interpret simulation and experimental data and prepare technical analysis and recommendations

• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and technical communication skills
