Senior Estimator

About the role

Responsible for leading, coordinating, reviewing, and validating project cost estimation activities, including Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Operational Expenditure (OPEX), based on engineering documents, Material Take-Off (MTO), technical specifications, project schedules, and project requirements. Ensures that estimates are accurate, competitive, consistent, and properly substantiated to support budgeting, commercial proposals, cost evaluations, change assessments, and management decision-making.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, coordinate, review, and validate CAPEX and OPEX estimates in accordance with company estimating formats, based on MTO, technical specifications, engineering drawings, and other relevant documents

• Ensure accuracy and completeness of calculations for materials, manpower, equipment, subcontractors, and other project resources

• Review tender documents, BOQs, drawings, technical specifications, and scopes of work to identify cost risks, discrepancies, omissions, and potential additional costs

• Validate quantity take-offs and cost estimates prepared by estimators and other team members

• Map estimated costs against project schedule activities to ensure alignment between costs, work scope, and project schedules

• Evaluate the reasonableness of unit rates, labor rates, material prices, equipment costs, and subcontractor rates using available supporting data

• Develop, maintain, update, and improve the project cost database, including material prices, labor rates, equipment costs, unit rates, and subcontractor prices

• Prepare and review cost estimates for changes in project scope, including variation orders, change orders, and design modifications

• Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Project Control, Project Operations, Finance, and other relevant departments to obtain accurate and complete estimating information

• Provide technical guidance, review calculations, and supervise the work of estimators and junior estimators, where applicable

About you

• Minimum Diploma (D3) or Bachelor's degree (S1) in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or another relevant discipline

• Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in project cost estimation, quantity surveying, cost engineering, or a related field

• Experience in preparing and evaluating CAPEX and/or OPEX estimates

• Strong knowledge of MTO, BOQ, quantity take-off, technical specifications, engineering drawings, and unit rate analysis

• Proven understanding of cost mapping, cost database management, rate analysis, and cost and resource impact assessments

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant estimating software or technical applications

• Strong analytical, numerical, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills

• Knowledge of applicable HSE policies and their implementation in project activities

• Ability to work under tight deadlines, maintain confidentiality of commercial information, and provide technical guidance to team members
