Purchasing Officer - Mining Industry

About the role

This role involves managing the complete purchasing cycle for a mining operation, from receiving and processing purchase requests through to ensuring on-time delivery and resolving any supply issues.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process purchase requests from site and office departments

• Source suppliers and request quotations

• Compare prices, quality, and delivery terms

• Negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive prices and terms

• Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs)

• Follow up on orders and ensure on-time delivery to the mining site

• Coordinate with suppliers, warehouse, logistics, and internal departments

• Maintain purchasing records and supplier information

• Handle issues related to delayed, damaged, or incorrect deliveries

• Ensure purchases follow company policies and procedures

About you

• Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, or related field

• 1–2 years of purchasing/procurement experience in mining industry is mandatory

• Good communication and negotiation skills

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel

• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure

• Willing to support mining site operations when required
