Public Affairs & Debate Consultant (Freelance)

About the role

This role involves supporting owners in managing meetings, discussions, negotiations, and public forums involving communities, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders. You will prepare materials, supporting data, and argumentation strategies to address issues and problems related to property business, while providing coaching and debate simulations to enhance the owner's ability to communicate opinions, respond to objections, and handle critical questions.

Key responsibilities

• Accompany owner in facing meetings, discussions, negotiations, or public forums involving communities, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders

• Prepare materials, supporting data, and argumentation strategy to address issues or problems related to property business

• Provide coaching and debate simulation to owner to improve ability to communicate opinions, respond to objections, and face critical questions

• Provide recommendations on communication strategy and stakeholder approach in handling potential external conflicts

• Help identify communication and reputation risks and formulate appropriate, professional, and fact-based responses

About you

• Minimum S1 education in Law, Communication Science, Political Science, International Relations, or other relevant fields

• Experience in Public Affairs, Legal Affairs, Government Relations, External Relations, Corporate Communication, or related fields, particularly in property, construction, or area development industries

• Strong capability in argumentation, public debate, negotiation, and persuasive communication

• Experience handling or assisting in resolving conflicts with communities, civil society organisations, community leaders, or other external parties

• Able to develop communication strategies, build strong arguments, and anticipate questions and objections in public forums

• Able to train and coach owner in improving debate, public speaking, negotiation skills, and handling confrontational situations

• Capable of issue analysis, stakeholder mapping, and developing strategies to address company reputation risks

• Critical thinking ability, calm under pressure, assertive, diplomatic, and able to adopt appropriate approaches in conflict situations

• Willing to work with freelance or project-based system according to company needs
