Procurement Coordinator

About the role

We are looking for an action-oriented Procurement Coordinator for our commodity trading business. In this role, you will be heavily involved in the execution process—finding and securing multi-commodity supplies directly from the field. You must be highly adaptable, willing to travel to field locations, and focused on negotiating the best prices while actively building a vast network of reliable field suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Field Sourcing & Scouting: Able to travel to field locations to discover and secure new commodity suppliers and producers.

• Network Building: Expand the company’s supplier base by building strong connections with farmers, producers, or field sellers.

• Execute Purchases: Swiftly buy different categories of commodities based on purchasing requests and demand.

• Price Negotiation: Negotiate competitive buying rates directly with field suppliers to protect our trading profit margins.

• Relationship Management: Maintain trusted, long-term relationships with existing suppliers to ensure continuous supply.

• Commodity Assessment: Evaluate various types of physical commodities in the field to check their viability and quality before purchasing.

• Delivery Follow-Up: Coordinate with sellers to ensure they dispatch the agreed volumes to our warehouse on time.

Job Requirements

• Experience: 2+ years of experience in hands-on purchasing, field buying, or commodity trading.

• Field Mobility: Fully willing and eligible to travel frequently to rural, agricultural, or field locations to meet suppliers.

• Adaptability: Highly adaptable and capable of switching strategies to scout and buy different types of commodities.

• Strong Networking: Excellent interpersonal skills to easily build rapport, trust, and connections with local field sellers.

• Sharp Negotiation: Strong commercial mindset with a proven ability to bargain and secure the best possible prices.

• Basic Math: Competent in calculating field weights, total costs, and basic trading margins on the spot.

• Proficient in both spoken and written English
