Head of Legal

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Head of Legal to oversee the company's legal function, with a key focus on store licensing, commercial legal matters, government and regulatory compliance, and franchise legal affairs.

Responsibilities:

• Store Licensing & Permits: Oversee store licensing and permits, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations for retail store openings and operations.

• Commercial Legal & Agreements: Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements, particularly store leasing agreements and other business contracts.

• Government & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local government regulations and licensing requirements related to retail business operations and new store openings.

• Legal Advisory & Dispute Resolution: Provide legal advice to management and business units, manage legal disputes, and represent the company in civil litigation when required.

• Franchise Legal: Support franchise-related legal matters, agreements, and compliance requirements as needed.

• Other Duties: Perform other legal-related responsibilities and assignments as required by management, in accordance with business needs and company objectives.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Law; a Master's degree in Law or Business is an advantage.

• Minimum 8–10 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in the retail, FMCG, property, or commercial sectors.

• Strong experience in retail store licensing, permits, regulatory compliance, and local government requirements for store openings.

• Proven expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts, particularly leasing agreements.

• Experienced in handling civil litigation and court proceedings, with a valid advocate license and membership in PERADI.

• Familiarity with franchise agreements and franchise regulations is an advantage.

• Strong legal analytical, negotiation, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.

• Ability to provide practical legal solutions aligned with business objectives.
