Head of Finance, Accounting & Tax

Obsidian is looking for an experienced leader to oversee our finance, accounting, and tax functions, strengthen financial controls, and support business growth.

Reporting directly to the CEO / Founder, you will lead the internal team, supervise external tax consultants, and provide clear financial analysis for operational decisions, expansion, and investor discussions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•⁠ ⁠Financial leadership: Lead finance and accounting operations, develop the team, and take ownership of financial reporting, planning, and controls.

•⁠ ⁠Cash flow management: Manage cash positions, working capital, receivables, and payables. Maintain a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast and plan funding requirements.

•⁠ ⁠Budgeting and forecasting: Lead annual budgets, financial projections, scenario planning, and monthly analysis of actual performance against budget.

•⁠ ⁠Accounting and reporting: Ensure accurate records, reconciliations, and timely monthly closing. Deliver income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and management reports by company and business unit.

•⁠ ⁠Tax oversight: Supervise outsourced tax consultants, review supporting data and calculations, reconcile tax reporting with accounting records, and monitor filing and payment deadlines.

•⁠ ⁠Financial controls: stablish clear procedures, approval limits, payment controls, and appropriate separation of duties. Improve financial systems and reporting processes.

•⁠ ⁠Business analysis: Assess profitability, cost efficiency, break-even points, capital expenditure, and the financial feasibility of new locations and projects.

•⁠ Investor and banking relations: Prepare financial models, reports, and presentations. Support the CEO in funding discussions, investor meetings, and financial due diligence.

•⁠ ⁠Multi-entity management: Oversee intercompany transactions, cost allocations, management fees, and brand licensing arrangements in line with agreements.

•⁠ ⁠Audit and compliance: Coordinate with auditors and external advisers, maintain supporting documentation, and address financial and tax risks promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS

•⁠ ⁠Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

•⁠ ⁠At least 8 years of relevant experience, including *3 years in a leadership role* overseeing finance and accounting, with responsibility for tax compliance.

•⁠ ⁠*Proficiency in Accurate Accounting Software is mandatory. Obsidian uses Accurate, and candidates must have regular hands-on experience with transaction processing, reconciliations, month-end closing, and financial reporting within the system.*

•⁠ ⁠Strong knowledge of Indonesian accounting standards and taxation.

•⁠ ⁠Proven ability to supervise external tax consultants and review their work.

•⁠ ⁠Strong skills in cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and business analysis.

•⁠ ⁠Experience managing multiple business units or legal entities.

•⁠ ⁠Confidence presenting financial information to owners, investors, banks, and other stakeholders.

•⁠ ⁠Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.

•⁠ ⁠Professional communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English.

•⁠ ⁠Relevant professional qualifications, Brevet A/B certification, and experience in fitness, hospitality, retail, or service businesses are advantages.
