About the role

Milkyway Modern Montessori is seeking a dedicated and passionate Guru Bahasa Inggris (English Language Teacher) to join our secondary education team. This is a full-time position based in Tanjung Pinang, Kepulauan Riau, where you will play a crucial role in developing students' English language proficiency and fostering a love for the English language within our Montessori learning environment. This position is integral to our commitment to providing world-class education that combines traditional Montessori principles with modern teaching methodologies.

What you'll be doing

• Delivering engaging and interactive English language lessons to secondary school students using Montessori principles and contemporary teaching techniques

• Planning and preparing comprehensive lesson materials, assessments and learning activities that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities

• Creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking and language development

• Assessing student progress through formative and summative evaluations, and providing constructive feedback to support continuous improvement

• Developing students' reading, writing, listening and speaking skills with a focus on practical communication and academic English

• Collaborating with fellow educators to ensure consistency in teaching standards and alignment with school curriculum objectives

• Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, progress and achievements

• Communicating regularly with parents and guardians regarding student performance and development

• Participating in school events, extracurricular activities and professional development opportunities

• Adapting teaching methods to accommodate different learning needs and fostering a culture of lifelong learning

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in English Language, Education, Linguistics or a related field

• Teaching certification or equivalent qualification recognised in Indonesia or internationally

• Minimum of 2-3 years' experience teaching English at secondary level

• Fluent proficiency in English with native or near-native speaker ability

• Strong knowledge of English grammar, literature, and language teaching methodologies

• Understanding of and commitment to Montessori educational philosophy and student-centred learning approaches

• Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to maintain discipline whilst fostering a positive learning atmosphere

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and engage effectively with students and parents

• Proficiency in Indonesian language is highly desirable

• Experience with digital learning tools and educational technology is preferred

• Passion for education and demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing and development
